Best kick Ass online Drummer ive worked with.

Allow me to introduce to you Hugo Ribeiro , the best drummer ive ever worked with.
He is a total machine, Unbelievably tight and there is nothing too technical he cant do, great feel, great communication, check him out, you wont be disappointed.

From the title, I though Aaron Smith was tooting his own horn looking for work in the music biz again....

Haha. More than one Aaron Smith in the world you know. And the irony is you have just given free promotion to someone you seem to have some anoyence with.

I love the vocal way more than the drum track, which was really good. Great song. Really well done on all ends.

Lower the guitars in the mix or carve out a little more room for the drum's frequencies, push the rhythm section. Maybe do some cutting or rearrangement on the chorus and breaks as right now it's a little flat and lacking in dynamics going between the sections, and don't be afraid to really soar on the vocals add some higher harmonies over the starts of the chorus and it'll become a much more punchy track.

No issue with the guy - just wish he'd tour with a group so I could see him play again.

Very tight Hugo. Massive props, especially on the sonics and feel of the way you play. Consistent.

You should share with us your mic techniques, gear, approach, etc. though: this is a recording forum after all.

yes, nice tightness. I'd strap some parallel compression on the snare and bring it up in the mix.

Thank you sir!

All my gear(always expanding) is listed at my website here: Gear | HugoRibeiro.Com | DRUMMER | OFFICIAL WEBSITE

As for techniques, I use the most common ones.
2 OHs spaced pair L & R
1 Kick mic in front of the hole
1 Snare
1 on each Tom
1 HiHat (Sometimes I don't even need to use the HiHat mic. WATCH HERE)
1 Room Mic in front of th kit at about 3-4 meters away (I like to capture the boominess of my 24" kick)

Typical really.. what I try to get is the best source sound possible. With a great instrument(tuned and played well) you can get great results without 3000 dollar mics and pres, etc...
The sound source(and player) are key!!!!
I think everybody knows that.

I feel like this would be more enjoyable if the audio weren't out of sync from the video.

Thats odd! Not here.. although I've encountered sync problems from some videos in some computers before. Also sometimes youtube conversion ****s up the sync.

cheers

Check out Hugo Ribeiro on this YouTube video that he did while he recorded the drum tracks for one of my songs!

He not simply played what I provided as a pre-programmed drum track, but made up his own stuff and really brought the song up to another level.

If I manage to get the songs finished, I'll definitely book him for the whole album.

This is an original song I wrote called "Bend". I wrote this song back in October. All of the instruments are synthetic except for the drums of course. It was all recorded and mixed by me.
I plan on doing more originals in the future.

I'm also available for session work! Check my website for more info!

If you dig my stuff, SUBSCRIBE, LIKE and SHARE!

Thanks for watching!

This was recorded back in June of 2012. Chris hired me to record the drums for the song. I really dig the song. Its catchy and radio friendly.

Check out Chris' website and you can download his songs for FREE here: Cranky Chris - Tunes

I used my SIGNIA Maple for this recording with my 24" Kick.

Thanks for watching!

Cheers
