Monitors ~200$ just for composing

[edit] - something cheap to get me in the ballpark of the sounds I'm looking for so I can get into a proper studio for mixing.

Thanks guys

I've come to the realization that I don't need awesome monitors - I just don't have the room for them. Beyond that I can go to a proper studio for mixdown so I just need something cheap that will get me in the ballpark in getting the sounds I want (bass/gtr mainly) so I can go to said studio and just focus on mixing.

It'll help compositionally too because I won't have to waste so much time trying to get into that "ballparl"

so with that in mind any other recommendations? 200$ range?

I dig my Mackie MR5 MkII's...$300 new to the door...also got a deal on stands and quaity cables...Good solid....and if you reference to something your familure with...you'll know what dealing with....."Ziggy Stardust" remaster sounds GREAT through them...might be able to find some on ebay used for less...still a good monitor.

Check out Blue Sky eXo2. Imo one of the best low budget systems around. You get a fully integrated sub and it's relatively small, so you can easily fit the satellites on your desk

thanks guys! I think Im gonna go with those D5's. I'm trying to stay away from a system with a sub - I'm tired of all this bass 0.o

will report back here when it happens. Have to sell my bed first...

ok, so maybe I'l grab the babies when I move+have money for soundproofing; I have however solved most of my problems. YAY

am pleased with it. Much more normal mixing conditions and this way I can createcreatecreatecreate and then when I want to mix (assuming I figure a way to control Logic 8 with my iPad) not have my session to distract me.

yay.
