bypassins ALL EIGHT preamps on the Presonus Firestudio Project

hello friends. i've attempted to do some research on this and still can't seem to get a definitive answer.

i am wanting to use an 8 channel mixer for its pre's and route it into my firestudio project, bypassing the firestudio pre's and using only it's converters.

i heard that for channels 3-8 its just a matter of using trs and not xlr, but what about 1&2? would using the inputs of 1&2's inserts and not sending anything out or plugging anything into the front of those 2 channels achieve the same goal?

simply put, can anyone tell me how to bypass all 8 of the pre's on the firestudio?

any help is appreciated in advance!

honestly i don't think it's possible to bypass the pre's on that interface. with the exception of the two inserts in the back. Only way to know for sure is to contact Presonus, they're pretty good about getting back to people.

I think you can only do it on ch 1 and 2 by plugging into the return on the rear panel.

I have a firestudio mobile daisy chained to my project.

I just use all the inserts in the back for my rack gear.

No you can't. The only line ins are TRS into ch 3-8,
And you are still going thru the pre circuit. Using a TRS pads it to accept line.

according to the manual, "The TRS connection in the combo jacks for inputs 3-8 bypass the microphone preamp entirely."(page 36)

it also say's this: "Return 1 and 2 (Line Inputs). These are the line-level inputs for channels 1 and 2. Their gain structure is identical to the 1/4” inputs for channels 3-8 and are typically used for signals not requiring preamplification (CD/MP3 players, effects processors, etc.)"(page 33)

http://www.presonus.com/uploads/prod...sManual_EN.pdf

so the answer is yes, you can bypass the preamp on all 8 channels using the two insert returns for the first two channels and the 1/4 inputs for channel 3-8.

Actually 1-2 are a true bypass using return 1-2 jacks.

TRS 3-8 channels states there is a -16 to +16 gain control (page 33) so it not a true bypass, it's still going thru a gain stage/padded pre.
