Record out headphone output...

I have three instruments I'm trying to plug into my interface. My interface only has four inputs. Can I hook up all three machines to the inputs of the interface using the headphone outputs so it can still record in stereo? Motif XF, Virus TI2, and MPC 2000xl is what I have, and I want to record everything into the Apogee Quartet. Really don't want to have to keep unplugging things...

No, not if you want to record things in stereo. You have an interface that has 2 stereo inputs; you need to record 3 stereo inputs. That doesn't go!

This sucks...I have a little 6 channel mixer I can use to hook up to one of the main inputs on the interface, but I think I would lose some audio quality. Is that true(if you know)?
