Using guitar pedals in mixdown through sends

Hi there, I want to incorporate my guitar pedals (overdrives, delays, etc...) in my mixing sessions. So send recorded guitars, basses through sends or inserts to my pedals. Should I use balanced or unbalanced jacks? Do the levels of the pedals match with regular line level? Anything else I should pay attention to? Thanx!

Any re-amp box would do the trick, guitar petals are unbalanced instrument level only(well, most of the time). Reamp the signal to the pedal then go back in using your favorite DI. There are already a lot of threads covering this.

Try it without a reamp too. The tone will be noticeably different but you may prefer it.
if you dont have a reamp check this out LINE2AMP Rev C Reamping Box Full Kit - D.I.Y. Recording Equipment

Check out the Creation audio labs MW-1 studiotool (Creation Audio Labs - Boutique Gear and Pro Audio Upgrades - Reamp you guitars with the best DI on the planet). It was made for exactly that. Also they make an 8 channel Hi/Lo impedance box, called Lz8, where you can hook up 8 pedals at the same time.

The LZ8 sounds very interesting, sounds like just what I need. I went to the Creation Audio site and do not see it listed, unless I missed it? If you can point me to any info about this device I'd appreciate it, thanks!

They just started making those, probably best if you call them up.
