JBL Ti Series Loudspeakers - 18Ti

Just picked up a pair of JBL 18Ti's for cheap. The speakers sound great and produce a lot of bottom end for 6 1/2's. I researched all the specs. The Ti18s are basically the same as the 4406 studio monitors with a cheaper crossover network and slightly different titanium high frequency transducers (tweeters).

If anyone is looking for specs on Ti series speakers I compiled a pdf which includes the original product brochure, engineering design specs and service manuals for the 18Ti, 120Ti, 240Ti, 250Ti

http://www.ASPSTUDIOS.net/Equipment/...rs-Manuals.pdf

Cheers

If they use the same poly cone woofer, they are damped in the 1~2k range.
I sold my 4406's after that became a problem for me. None of their other monitors do that, it's the slower response of that heavy plastic cone rolling that off.

Dampened 1-2k

I did notice that, but so far have been using just for listening and playing Keyboard piano through.

maybe use spectrum analyzer and graphic eq to compensate?

Also, Jim Williams, what would I need to do to swap the x-over for the one in the 4406 and what would be the benefit other than the hi freq att knob? The guys on altec board rave about the 18ti's with the 4406 xover. Your advice is appreciated

A crossover swap will not correct the physical dampening of the middle frequencies caused by a heavy and slow woofer cone. This is why JBL doesn't make poly cone woofers anymore.

4408A's fix that problem real quick.
