2 man triangular tent as a vocal booth?

Hi,

I'm moving house and looking to set up a cheap but relatively permanent vocal booth. Was thinking about setting up my triangular old school 2 man tent, standing it on its side elevated somehow so i can get underneath to climb in through the door which would be facing the floor... and then covering it with quilts to absorb.. any speculation on how this might sound??

I am quite into the reflections and reverb produced from a natural untreated room so this is slightly against my principles but thought it might make my sound a bit easier on the ear.. current untreated room work can be sampled here:! Behind Doors | Danny Pez

no takers, can you imagine this tent the other way up so you can stand upright in it, covered in duvet's with a mic in there???

I dont see what the tent will add, as opposed to just hanging some duvets around your room. I think it will get too hot in there too quick and because of the small size, force you to work too closely to the mic.

But that is just my untested opinion. Why not try it and post up the results here so we can all hear what it sounds like?

and as for liking untreated reflections and reverbs? have you ever spent time in properly treated rooms?

sorry if that sounds patronising, but that is all i've craved for ever since stepping into my first 'real' studio!

There are a few good DIY vocal booths and baffles out there but they usually use rockwool or acoustic foam not blankets. Still, try hanging blankets from a T-shaped boom stand, see how it goes.
