Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 vs NI KA6?

Hi there slutz! I'm just starting out and I'm wondering if it's worth buying the komplete audio 6 over the scarlett 2i2. In the end, the KA6 is 100$ more. I don't need that many I/O, just stereo monitoring, headphone jack, solo instrument recording(solo), which the scarlett does perfectly. I don't give a fck bout latency while recording! lol (not going to be tracking/using headphones for that)

Some people say the Komplete Audio 6 has 'godly' conversion but at this price point I doubt it. I presume it wouldn't be thaaat much better than the 2i2, but not sure...That's why I need someone to verify that fact. The sales rep from sweetwater says it competes with interfaces if it were double the price! so its actually comparable to the babyface/duet (and its got cirrus logic converters!), however someone here on the forums owning an RME pci card for 10 years has left negative remarks about the conversion of the KA6. I've also been reading about a ton of problems and instable drivers with the KA6 too. Which leaves me thinking is the KA6 attention all hype... and worth buying over the scarlett?

If someone can talk about these 2 units and help me out that would be appreciated! THx

Love my 2i2. Very clean preamps.

I've used the the 2i2 for 6 or 7 months with no problems at all. I plug it in. It works. Sounds good.

I'm not familiar with the other one to say anything about it.

I have the KA6, and while I wish I could recommend it, I really do (I mean the features, and preamp quality for the price!!)... unfortunetaly mine has been riddled with driver problems, internal clock problems, and my favorite: one of the output chips inside just fried today, apparently because I had it connected to my USB port when I booted up my computer (shouldnt be an issue right?) Im sending it back, and either getting a scarlett 2i4 or a roland quad capture. I just really loved having 4 physical inputs... :(

I've got a 2i2 and it just does what it says on the tin. Latest drivers work perfectly to boot. Pre-amps could definitely use a bit more gain though, thats my only gripe with it.

I just got my Komplete Audio 6, and I can tell you: it is built to last. Opposed to the Focusrite 2i2, it comes with a really nice software package including: Cubase 6 LE, Traktor 2 LE, Komplete Elements and a €25,- voucher for instruments in the Native Instruments shop (it also comes with Guitar Rig 5 Pro when you register it before December 31st!). The S/PDIF and MIDI -ports are also very convenient, and you might use them in the future. I have no experience with the 2i2 whatsoever, but my recommendation would be that you would just save the extra 100 bucks and buy the Komplete Audio 6.

Preamps are definitely better in the KA6, but for the money, the 2i2 is a fantastic value. They're honestly both great interfaces at their price points. If you can afford the extra scratch, you'll benefit from the pres in KA6, IMO.

I dont know the answer, but you can easily find the spec sheets for each interface online and they should tell you the output for the headphones in db.

My KA6 could use a little more gain on the headphones, thats for sure, not a lot, but it could use some.

My overall guess is they are all going to be the same, because they are all bus powered and have a limited amount of energy running through them. If you want a lot more gain on the headphones, get an externally powered audio interface.
