New Pre Amp upgrade....

I am looking to upgrade my existing pre to a channel strip. I am currently looking for the obvious price/ performance ratio.

My interests are in the Drawmer MX60, SPL Channel One, or SPL Track One.

I would like to have a nice finished quality sound before mastering.

I will be using it for Vocals (pop) and voiceovers.

I am curently using a RODE K2 mic with an upgraded NON Mullard Old Shield logo tube and am happy with it's performance into an m-audio omni I/O to DP4.

I would like to get something that I can gow into and would preferably like a deesser, EQ and compressor, that is why I have chosen the above.

Am I barking up the wrong tree to get the sound quality I want and should I look at seperate components instead? Any help would be great.

Thanks...

5 year bump!

I got a K2 as well, and am contemplating either an MX60 or SPL Channel One (both pretty affordable used). Any thoughts?

I'd also add the Presonus Eureka to that list. Check out all the online reviews of it!!

I have one and am very impressed with it!

O.k., but what about the sentiments regarding the MX60 and the SPL Channel One?

(I didn't sell my Art channelstrip for nuthin'.... )

You and me are BIG fans of the Eureka Dickie, I know some Poo Poo it, but literally side by side against my PRO MPA and my Presonus VXP it's really has that BIG sound with tight lows and smooth highs...Really good with (POP) vox.

Sad to say I had a Focusrite Trakmaster at one point....Worst pre I ever owned. The Drawmer MX60 looks great BTW, the price and feature are awesome. Hopefully they didn't cut corners.

I can confirm that the Drawmer MX60 is FANTASTIC for the money. I have heard a few other pretenders within that price range and nothing has caught my attention, other than perhaps the Golden Age Pre73, but then again, the Pre73 does not come with all of the features of the Drawmer.

Even though I own some very good pres, I bought an MX60 as it offered a different tone to what I had. Highly recommended and very much under priced.

Could you elaborate?
So far I've only heard the MX60 on a direct inputted guitar and I found it pretty bland.
