using american emu sampler in uk

Hi

My brother has a emu sampler he bought in America he wants to send to me here in UK

Before he does i want to be sure i can use here in UK, is it just a case of using a different power lead? or would i need a transformer of some kind?

thanks

It'll say on the back what voltages it runs at.

What model is it? You may be able to google for an image of the back panel

eg. This one would work in the UK, you'll just need a standard power cable, its the e6400 (edit) ultra:

6400 ultra, you say check the back of the one my brother has? or just check the back of them in general? i thought they would all be made the same regardless of country, it would just be the power lead that differs, maybe im wrong tho

Actually the one pictured above is the same one.

get your brother to check the voltage to double check. Should be ok though.

You can see it above the power plug in the one I linked to above.

In general, most things these days work internationally. Not all though.

America is 120v

that sampler will work anywhere from 100 to 240 volts, (it also works at both 50 and 60 Hz, so that is not an issue either, it rarely is.)

I'm not sure about the ULTRA. I used to have (and still have actually) the e6400, but not the ULTRA version. When I got it, it was basically a stripped down version of the e4 (from memory). Basically a minimum extras version.

If you look at that photo, you can see that there are lots of potential options missing.

I'm not sure if the ULTRA came with FX, I know mine didn't (meaning reverb and stuff, it did come with filters)

When I took mine between Australia and New Zealand all the buttons stopped working. I opened it up, and a ribbon cable had come unattached. It must have been REALLY bumped around on the flight. Plugged it back in and it was fine.
