Ahhh yes. Thanks for the wisdom yall!

Is there any reason i would want one of these for tracking bands or is it strictly broadcast use? I cant really find any info on the quality of preamps or what specific model this one is. If i could get it cheap would it be useful for any type of recording?

Thanks for the help

ok.. it is a bmX 22 console from PR & E

seems that it would need a fair amount of mods to be used as any sort of tracking device....it just looks sooo sweet right?

Anyone have any suggestions on "vintage" (analog) boards that preferably have lines outs for each channel that I should look into. Im looking for a different board with character to be used for tracking.. should have decent preamps.. or at least better than my presonus firepod.

any thoughts?

gracias,

eric

a studio board is not a live board is not a broadcast board is not a monitor board but any could substitute for the other if the situation is just right. Before you even start considering the sound, the ins and outs, eq, etc will make or break the board for the needs of a given client.

as of now, i am my only client. I want to get a studio board. 8 channels. with direct outs on each channel. eq would be a bonus but not necessary. I am mostly looking for 8 solid pres with direct outs. I want that dark old school warm blah blah blah sound you know. I want something that can be pushed into a dirty nasty analog distortion.

any options under 1k? vu meters are a plus.

gracias

I recently pick up one of these for cheap. Had to clean it up. Looks and sounds awesome. Has the stuff you're looking for. Crazy routing possibilities with this small board.

I was actually saving up for a drum machine when I saw this. Just had to get it. When I move to a larger mixer, I'll use this for the drum machine.

For your budget, you can obviously do/get better than this.

I like them both equally. The MX-20 (which is black and looks bad @$$) has phantom power.

Scratch that last part about phantom power on the MX-20. It has balanced outs.

Some of us here don't have a fancy studio and clients.

The Tascam M308B is the eight channel version of the board pictured in post #10. I also have the Tascam M 312B and it has very nice sounding microphone preamps with great routing and send features. I've been using mine for more than twenty years.

Nice setup Dennis. Is that a Numark EQ in the rack? If so, what are you using it for?
