MOTU 2408 mk1 A/D

I need more analogue inputs for synths and I have an old 2408 MK1 in retirement.
Can I use it standalone 8 analogue to adat? The adat would pass to my 828 mk3.
I suppose I could live without it and repatch the synths I'm using for various tracks but it would be nice to have things more permanently wired for recall.
Other options would be a Behringer AD8000 but i'd rather recycle and balanced ins/pres aren't really an issue for synths.
Any thoughts?

I use my 2408 mk3 as a standalone a/d converter to ADAT and it works just fine. I would assume a mk1 would work just as well.

Thanks Jareds270, hopefully the mk1s work in the same way. I'll post the outcome to conclude in a coupla weeks. It would make the 2408mk1 a handy and cheap purchase for people in my situation, not that the ada8000 is expensive.
