help needed for a good ad/da converter

moin moin
iam a young engineer from berlin/ger.
i need a new ad/da converter! iam currently working with a tascam 1641 and
the sound of it is a joke!
the apogee symphony is what i wanna get in the long run but cant afford it at
the moment. my budget is around 1k euro. it would be nice to get up to 14 inputs for the money but i would go with a good I/O 8/8 as well.
no preamps needed, i actullay would prefer one without any.
iam a big ebayer and like to buy used equipment.
so if any of you has a good tip what i could get for that kind of money i would be most obliged

best greets to my fellow engineers
julian

I use a Steinberg MR816 everyday with pro-level results. I don't use its preamps, but prefer to run all my outboard gear through it. Its really the only "low end" piece of gear I own, but I feel no need to upgrade at this point. Good ad conversion, even better da conversion. Hope this is helpful.
