What next in the set up?
Home recording set up:
Yamaha 01X desk
Tascam 38 ReeltoReel
AT 4033a -(use vocals/overhead/guitars) -pretty decent
JM47 Meekraphone (not great) - haved use on bass amp a bit
Joe Meek VC4 preamp (opto compressor)
TL Audio Ivory 4 channel Valve preamp
sm57
Shure PG56 x3 (Drum Mics) -sometimes used on guitars too
Shure PG52 x1 (Kick)

I've been Recording live with band (Style/influences - plastic ono band, jimmy miller era stones, Dr john, sonics, tom waits, john* martyn, sly & the familly stone, 68-73 stones)

was thinking of looking for a better vocal/all purpose mic to add to the set up, somewhere around $500 budget . . . . maybe a 2nd hand pricier mic . . . .

any suggestions welcome!

(had been looking at AT 4047/4050 /CAD Equitek E200 ??)

Something like an RE20 may work (and give you another choice for Kick and GTR).

A pair of Rode SDC may be the ticket - especially if you have a good sized room to record drums in.
