Thread Starter | Pro Tools summing v mixing OTB
Tracking vocals for my band this weekend, I decided to set the singer up with her own mix. Basically just routed bass/drums/guitar/vox out of my 002R to 4 channels on my A&H Mix Wizard (since it has builting reverb, she can adjust how much she wants to hear and I cant just monitor her clean). While setting it up, I coudln't help notice how much better it seems to sound than virtually the same mix through Pro Tools monitoring. I always assumed OTB mixing or external summing would be subtly better or only better with very high-end external equipment (unless I missed the memo that an A&H mixwizard is high-end). I'm actually kind of amazed, and am now considering keeping my MixWizard and trying to enhance my mixing skills on that. Anyone else have similar experiences? |
