Looking for a cheap multipattern mic for a beginner.

I've been out of the low end for a while and someone just asked me about this... Does anyone have a few cheap multipattern condenser mic model numbers that sound decent for the price? I'm looking at the $100 - $150 price range.

While am at it, what's a decent cheap mic pre with phantom? Line out to a MBP.

Thanks!

Multipattern is gonna be hard to find at that price point. I'm drawing a blank. Used, for sure.

Yeah, Cad M179 is almost certainly the best multi-pattern in that price range. Want to go even cheaper? Maybe a CAD GXL3000 at around $100.

Samson C03 Multi Pattern Condenser mic is going for $99.99 right now and is pretty decent for the price.

If your budget were 200, I'd recommend the Studio Projects CS5.

But keeping in your strict price range, I haven't found anything better than the M179.

CAD GXL 3000 is surprisingly good for the price. I actually have a pair if you're interested, PM me.

FMR RNP is a very good sounding stereo pre-amp at a very fair price. Have one of those too, but not for sale.

M179 fersure, and then why not get an actual interface instead of a pre to line out I your MBP. A Focusrite Saffire or an Echo Audiofire or something would work out pretty well. If you do decide for whatever reason to go in Line In, then a RNP or ISA would rock.

I answer myself. Yes, it is!

It seems the same as the Rode NT2S in a different enclosure.

Hey Jim, has the NT2S anything in common with your original design? Do your NT2 circuit mod suit these mics?

+1 on the Behringer B-2 Pro.

Also a good platform for modding.

Is the B2-Pro essentially the original NT2 circuit but with a figure 8 pattern?

+1 for the M179. I love it and when it comes to variable patterns it can't be beat, it has the most variable pickup pattern I've seen.

Not the current NT2. I mean this chinese version. (check the pics). No idea what period it was made. But it seems it mutated into the current B2 Pro.
