Patching stompboxes into mic signal chain

Just wanted to get some opinions on this: I don't have any analog hardware processors or effects, and I'm wondering if I can utilise some of my guitar stompboxes as analog processors for mic signals.

For example, a trash mic for a live drumkit: I want to place an SM57 or SDC in the drumroom, connect it to the (1/4" jack) input of my compressor pedal, then connect the pedal's jack output to my DAW interface for tracking.

Anyone see any probs with this approach?? I'm wondering if impedance may be an issue. Can a guitar stompbox accept a mic signal??? Should the pedal's output be connected to a mic input on the interface or a DI input instead?

Thanks. thumbsup

you'll get a different character due to the mismatching impedence. it might sound cool.

but what i would do is record the drums or vox regularly, then at mix time use a reamp box (or DI backwards) to feed signal out to a stompbox. more flexible, more options this way in case you don't want it later.

I use a ReAmp box to feed to a variety of pedals...amps.

I did this

I did this the other day and it worked:

Mic -> Preamp -> Delay Pedal -> A/D Converter -> Sonar and it worked.
