Omnitronic MZD 88 matrix mixer?

I'm going to grab an M-Audio 1010LT audio interface. It has no analog level controls before the converters, so I'm going to want an 8-in-8-out mixer in front of it. I was just now scanning the mixer selection at Thomann and I ran into an Omnitronic MZD 88, which is an 8x8 matrix mixer in 2U for a suspiciously low €196. Does anyone know anything about it? Do you reckon that thing would be any good for recording purposes or should I just keep looking?

Space is at a premium and I would prefer to have a compact rack device (less than 6U) over something like a Soundcraft M8.

Not sure about that mixer, but it isn't that odd not to have level controls on line ins. Normally whatever you're plugging into a line in will already have some form of level control (mic preamp, compressor, effects unit, etc.).

There are a few available. Behriner make a particularly horrific one the RFX 1602, the Alesis MultiMix 8, Mackie do a pretty large 32 channel one if I remember. I personally use an Ashly 308B. Never heard of an Omnitronic MZD88.
Why is it you need to use the mixer anyway? What are you planning on connecting to the interface?
I use a Delta 1010 and have recently come to the decision that a mixer would be basically useless and would do nothing but add noise to the whole setup.

Huh, this is interesting. My current recording setup is mainly a bunch of synths each at max volume going into a small mixer going into a stereo audio interface. I set the recording levels at the mixer. Though the interface has level controls as well, they stay put.

Have I been doing things horribly wrong somehow?
