I have had mine for a just few months. I am very happy with the results. I don't have a lot of mics, but have liked the ISA on everything I have tried. Acoustic guitar, synth and bass DI recordings are the best I have had too.

Digital card is nice too.

Unfortunately not. I have one with and one without, maybe one day fate will smile on me and I'll run across a second case.

I own a ISA 428 along with a UA 2-610 and a Trident S20...the Focusrite is by far my favorite out of all of them. You are sure to enjoy it. I am actually considering buying 4 more channels.

Thanks for letting me know. That's definitely not a deal breaker, just seemed like a fun perk.

Focusrite just came out with the rackmount 2-channel ISA 2.
Streets at about $899.
Not as many bells and whistles as on a single channel of ISA One though.
I'm thinking about adding another ISA One at some point.

I've wanted to do the same thing. Missed out on 2 or 3 different used deals.
It'll happen when or if it happens, I guess.

Love the warmth and the gloss and the headroom!
Sold two other pieces to be able to buy it (recording vocals is the most important thing in my outboard world);
-Roland synthmodule that I would like to keep for the pianos but not so important as the PreAmp
-DBX 166 comp, it turned out that used with the Isa One it degraded the sound a bit too much so now I record without compression.

Cheers!

I bought a second ISA ONE a month ago and had to send it back. Was getting very noticeable gain hiss at around 35 DB and up. At50 DB with my sure SM7b it sounded like a windstorm in my recording. Strange, I never had this issue with my other ISA ONE. I'm kind of disappointed with the ISA ONE line now, to tell you the truth. I wouldn't expect to encounter this type of issue with such a well respected preamp. I wonder what was causing the gain hiss? IT sounded like a junky M-Audio Audio USB Audio Buddy that I had ten years ago.

I'm sorry, I couldn't figure out how to start a new tread. Any way the xlr line out on my isa one is way too hot for my mbox 2 mini line input, so iv'e been using the send out. It seems to work fine but I don't know if I'm loosing something doing that. I don't have the digital card so is the send out the same as the line? thanks

I think the MBox is expecting a mic level input on the XLR and line level on the 1/4". The ISA is line level on the XLR and the 1/4" send outputs.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, but it's way too hot for the line input as well. focusrite support told me that it sends a +20 db signal which may be too hot for lower quality interfaces but are meant for high quality equiptment.(I don't know about that one)Anyway like I said before I'm using the send because it seems to have a more normal output which seems fine unless I'm loosing some quality that way. Thanks for any help

What kind of cable are you using to connect the XLR output to the MBox? I don't think you're missing anything by using the send output other than the 'insert' function of the ISA. That's kind of a moot issue if you're not using the ADC though.

I think that's the issue. Using the XLR on the MBox is the mic input. If you use XLR out of the ISA to TRS in on the MBox that'll solve the problem.

That's right. You are running the Mic pre into the pre the Mic pre on the M box. An attenuator will work but i would go into the line inputs.

Have you tried using the pad on the mbox? Or just turning down the gain on the ISA?

Oh yes, the pad is engaged. Also, there is no output gain on the isa, only input and of course
you need a decent amount of input to get a good sound out of the preamp. Thanks again.

Are you using an XLR to TRS adaptor or TS adaptor? That could have something to do with it.
