Ixox Delay which is a Quad delay with panning, feedback, HP/LP filters and all sorts of madness.
VOPM FM Synth Which can load in Sega Genesis SYSEX files for all sorts of fun! Want that green hill zone brass sound? Well just load up the Syx file! Sometimes i copy the values into my real FM hardware for the best of both worlds
All these in AU format. If anyone is having trouble finding Massey Tapehead AU, I found a link that still works. 2nd post on the page. I have it working in Logic 9.1.7 under 10.6.8.
This thread has made me realise just how long it's been since I seriously made music on my DAW with some regularity--I've forgotten which VST's I use! damn!
But the few that I guarantee I remember that I used a lot:
The only one that hasn't been mentioned so far is the Terry West Plugins
CS12M 1.58 ( the one near the bottom of the page ) Is a beast on sampled Kick Drum
Slate VCC
Sonar X1 Prochannel (k a few rolled into one strip per channel)
Echoboy
Valhalla Room
sknote Roundtone (new...awesome)

Suppatrigga for glitching. Got me looking for a paid equivalent that is programmable... Didnt find one as good as st. Tho did learn about BT's haircut on the process...
Im going to hijack this thread to ask for something specific:
Well, Im an ableton & logic (rewire) user. I love abletons worflow and hate its own plugins. With logic...the opposite: love its own plugs but really not into the workflow schematic.
One of my favorite plugins is the SPACE DESIGNER reverb from logic.
I usually rewire both daws...mainly because of this (i know, its stupid!)
Is there any free or non free reverb as good as space designer capable of closing my rewire habits?
Ill try the valhalla room tomorrow, but would like to hear your comments on this.
As for the topic.
Limiter 6
SSL Xism
TAL does really simple and great stuff
Really dont have much free stuff...reason why i loved the tipic! Hehe
So glad that this thread got bumped! The ThrillseekerLA is amazing, as are lazysnake and 1973, so thanks for those,
Otherwise
Blockfish
Floorfish
Kjaerhaus Classic Reverb (great if you don't need realism, but just shimmering, pretty reverb)
Synth1
The free version of Kontakt
EpicVerb is Variety (Same guy as did Thrillseeker) can do some interesting stuff.
To be honest for total verb control you need something like SIRI, but you'll need an impulse library to go with that. Luckily there's lots of very good free ones.
I recently downloaded the "Modern" series and the Modern Analoguer is a really interesting Tape Emulator (Not the same as Ferox, but different). Modern Analoguer is also an interesting Fairchild 660 emulation, I don't think it's spot on but it sounds good! They also have a M/S encoder for those who want to do some processing.
You should all peruse more of Variety Of Sounds stuff. He has great saturation plugins, some console strip emulations, delays and a nice Stereo and Mid/Side EQ and Compressor. I love his Baxter EQ on OH's or the Master Bus for mono-ing the bass and helping adjust the brightness of the cymbals without overtly messing with toms and snare.

I simply cannot name ONLY 5 so I'll name 5 categories
1 Reverbs: Glaceverb, Signaldust TilaVerb room emulator and Abstract Chamber are both amazing, Bootsie's EpicVerb
2 EQ: Sir Elliot makes some truly impressive stuff, a few faves are Narrow Q, 11, 18 and 31 band graphics and Paragrahpic EQ are ALL top notch stuff. DDMF makes the Color EQ parametric and a 10 band parametric that work great. J1000 plugs both the Mastering Mq57 and the channel Pq33 eqs are excellent. Bootsie's Baxter makes me smile every time. Sonimus SonEQ with those lovely filters and that smooooth top shelf.
3 Dynamics: Bootsie with the new Density III (just stupid good) and the thrillseeker both great comps. My absolute favorite deesser is the Spitfish, does what it does better than anyone else I've tried. Someone mentioned theTDR Feedback comp and Vladg's Molot and limiter 6 and I wholeheartedly agree with both those choices.
4 Delay: Once again were back on Bootsie turf with the Nasty DLA
5 Saturation: Bootsie's Ferric gets an immediate mention, as does SIRELLIOT with his preamps 1977, 1968 and RT-1 preamps. There's a bunch more but that'll get u going

Update to this, I'm just now fooling around with Signaldust's Dust EQ on kick (first thing I tried it on and it has replaced an instance of the Portico with Satson doing filters). Very nice eq and extremely easy to get results with (at least on kick)
Flux Bittersweet: a nice transient designer type plug-in iZotope Vinyl: ideal for some quick retro effects Sonic Birth: a plug-in for loading convolution effects IK Multimedia SampleTron: it's not the whole package, just the demo but it has all the important samples like the flutes, cello, choir, lov it! MDA leslie: nice and simple
this looking for a decent tape-simulator for AU and for free ...
