Question dumb garageband question

hey... i'm trying to record (for the first time) using garage band... my problem comes with recording the drums... i have 7 microphones plugged into a firepod, which i'm running into an imac... how can i assign each one of the mics its own track? when i create a new track, it seems to instantly have all 7 microphones assigned to it... yeah, how can i change that?

Have you read the manual thoroughly? I didn't know GB could even record multitrack... I have never used it, but would like to know. I might even try it.

I dunno, maybe Apple doesn't even publish a manual... I should look it up too.

I believe you must be running GB2 to record more than 2 tracks at a time.

To configure your tracks:

1. Open preferences
2. Select your firepod as Audio Input.
3. Double click on a track (say your snare), and select the appropriate channel as its input.

This is really just educated guessing, I don't know GB very well.

Cheers,

Yes, you must have the latest version of Garageband to track more than two tracks at a time.

You would select the track in question, open the pane for information (that shows up on right side) and you probably have to expand something in that pane to show you the advanced view. There should be a drop-down of the channel, and it defaults to "everything from every source", but you should easily be able to choose just one channel there.
