8x8 Mackie i-series "clone"?

Love the Mackie 1640i concept: 16x16 all within one tidy Firewire cable. They don't make an 8x8 unfortunately and that's really all I need. Any of the other mixer people doing anything like this? I know alot of them have two-channel USB interfaces, but I'm talking about a real multitrack interface combined with an analog mixer over firewire.
