Any Octopre Platinum users?

Reading through an older SoS article and the old Octopre Platinum sounds pretty bad ass compared to the new MkII and Saffire Pro's clean, lesser gain preamp versions with op-amps vs. the transformer Class A based preamps in the older Platinum.

They go pretty cheap nowadays and with the optional ADAT card, sounds like a great way to get a nice colored 8 channel preamp expander.

Where did you hear that there were transformers in the signal path of the Platinum series pres?

I own and use an original Octopre, but I've never used any of the other models so my input may not be of any help to you. The search function may help, however
