Dbx 160x love?

Anybody still use this gem regularly? Gosh, it gives the bass some love here still.

Not a question in need of asking.....

A studio staple everywhere. I never track a vocal without one.

I know this is gearlusters anon, but I do get tired of reading about all the gear I don't have. Its fun sometimes to just hear people talk about old standards.

The a seems to be more tight while the x is nicely unruly and more raw, less polished. No?

I believe the letters changed as the production processes changed to keep up with the law. It's the same basic design.

I believe the 160x is 1/4" ins/outs while the xt uses xlr.

I have a 160X and I wish I had a second one. It's good on a lot of stuff. The 160 is a great tool and may well be one of the most affordable long-time standards in the industry.

The DBX 160X is a lot more punchy than the newer 160A. I have two of these little gems in my studio. Can't mix drums without them. Throw them on my drum subgroup and listen to the beautiful sounds... :-)
