Thread Starter | Help me make my next studio buy!
My current setup is SM7B/AKG Perception 100 > GAP 73 > 24bit 96 kHz Interface > Reaper > M-Audio Monitors My signature has a link to my mixes (ignore the Zeppelin cover - most of it was recorded with different equipment) I've learned how to EQ much more effectively recently, but I feel like an upgrade for either the MIC or PRE could help my recordings sound more "professional." I'm not looking for a "clean" sound as my recordings are almost all rock. However, I think my vocals sound a little muddy and fails to stand out with this setup. I recently fell in love with the UA Solo 610 cause it makes things sound... BEAUTIFUL for lack of a better term. Definitely colored, but that's the kind of sound I'm looking for. However, after looking through several reviews, I've found that the 414XL sounds a little bit more airy and could counteract the muddiness I'm experiencing with the SM7B. SO, after listening to these mixes, what would you guys recommend? Thanks for reading this lengthy post! |

Feel free to day that I don't need anything, also, if that's the case!
