Tone Artist - anyone got a code?

has anyone got a promo code for toneartist.com - I want to sign up for the second course, pro tools rock home studio and there is an option for a promo. Can't find one on the web. I'm going to sign up anyway but if anyone can help out would be cool.

just go to http://www.toneartist.com/sign-up/ and enter EARLY1, press 'apply' and it should give a discount for a 2 course package (it says ends this Sunday). i'm doing Pro Tools Rock Home Studio and Virtual Rock in Pro Tools. good luck with that!

thanks so much for that - it gave me another $20 off! I've been thinking of doing my own home recording for years - I'm really looking forward to getting into it. I have a 003 and I use pro tools 8 on my apple mac - I think the flexibility of this course is the appeal for me. I'm just looking for some practical tips to help me get started; I want to learn the ins nd outs of recording cos our band can't afford to go in for a pro session at the moment.

Anyone suggest a good home recording mic?

Anyone suggest a good home recording mic?
Yes,a U87.

What price range.

Im just guessing but,you guys have a band, and it seems,a limited price range so...one mic?
I would say a shure sm57 and a pop screen for vocals.
Good for vocals
Good for micing guitar cabs
Good for all precussion insts
Doesn't need to much of gain.
Great quality all purpose starter mic.IMO..Not to mention,a mic you'll always need.

thanks cavern.
I looked up the sm57 and it looks like a good option. I'm probably willing to spend up to $500 for the mic set are there other options you'd go for if you had that budget (maybe a couple of mics)... bit undecided atm.

You could just pick up an sm57 and save the money for the rest of your gear. That's what I would do. Maybe someone else has different opinion..

Depends if your going to program drums or mic real ones a lot.
Is there more than one singer in the band?
Before i needed to mic drums,i got by very nicely with only an AT-4033 + sm57.
that covers a lot of ground for around that price.

If your thread title had the word "mic" in it,you would get a lot of responses.
I don't know what's current as i have been using the same mic collection for some time.
Maybe start another thread asking about mics.

I find the SM57 to be the most reliable home studio mic - there is a forum on this mic SM57 if you are interested.

Btw thanks for the tip re: that Tone Artist offer. Are you using a 003? Which Pro Tools version are you running?
