I'd love to get a Great River but they never come up secondhand here in the UK! They come up secondhand in the US quite a bit but by the time I've paid VAT and shipping + import tax the price is about the same as a new one which is double my budget!

Still torn between the Grace M101 and PRE73 DLX (when it's released).

have you researched the BLA Auteur or their 512a? I have the GAP (version 1) and the Summit 2ba is noticeably cleaner - with what you're looking for, I don't think you'll be happy with the GAP mk 2.

I've been offered a Focusrite Liquid Channel for £700 which seems to be a pretty good deal. From what I've been reading the default clean pre is meant to be top notch and I like the fact that it offers all those emulations of great pres and compressors! I've read mixed reviews about the emulations but know people who have tried the exact units that Focusrite used and they have said they couldn't tell the difference!

The Mico costs £400 which seems like good value but I'm still put off by the fact that it doesn't have a power switch and uses a wall wart psu! Also, the converters used in the Liquid Channel are better spec'd than the Mico. I wouldn't need the HMX feature of the Mico as I already own a very decent tube preamp ( UA Solo 610 ).

The GAP PRE73 DLX looks tempting but again uses a wall wart psu. However, it appears that GAP offer a psu PS-AC4 that powers 4 GAP products. Not sure if this still uses a wall wart though? Might be nice to get a PRE73 DLX and Comp54. Also, I would have to plug this into the line inputs on my Saffire interface which go through the Saffire's pres but are padded down. With the Liquid Channel or Mico I could bypass the Saffire's pres by going digital.
Does anyone know how the PRE73 compares to the Liquid Channels Neve emulation?

The Grace M101 looks to be a very high quality clean pre with no bells or whistles. Some people say that the Mico's pre's are very similar!? Not sure how the Liquid Channels default clean pre (not emulation) compares?
