A mic pre to compliment Avedis MA5

I am on the market for another pre to compliment my Avedis MA5 which I like very much.

I'll use it mainly to record vox paired with a valve mic.I want it with a good DI to record bass also.

Max. budget 1.500€ new or used.

Rather old thread btw... and I'd have put it in the hiend section..

In the 500 series world I'd get a Forssell SMP-500, which is on the clean side..
and get a radial JDI or a Countryman 85 or a Jensen DI and then go from there to your preamp.. Probably the best solution quality wise.

If you want everything in one module try the APA Juggernaut, I like the preamp in nickel-nickel mode better (but this is just my taste) and the DI is stellar on that thing! Really amazing!

Outside the 500 series.. There are is a lot of stuff.. Hardy, Forssell and an external DI.
Or (but will be on the same "tonality" somehow) a BAE preamp like the DMP, is a wonderful preamp and the DI is to die for!!
