within reason, quality matters with all things. Do you need $800 cables? No. But the cheapest cable on the block might not be the best answer, either. I have a few Hosa cables around here, they are utility cables, don't get used much but when they do they solve a problem. I would not pick them for one of the most critical connections in my system. But that's me.
I have a new pair of monitors on the way here, myself. When they arrive I will make custom cables using Gepco (mid-priced good quality wire that I happen to have a spool of) or a nice expensive 110 ohm cable that were leftover cutoffss from an install my friend did (I'd never buy that stuff... too expensive.) West Penn Wire, Belden, anything with good conductors and a quality rating on the shield; Neutrix or Switchcraft connectors would do just fine.
