Thread Starter | Users favourite studio book....
Hi ppl, not sure if this is the right section. I am interested in finding out what users favourite studio guide/recording books are. I have several favourites, like Bobby Okinowski's Mixing Enginneer, and recording engineer books. For actually focusing on sound, the 'Golden Ears' audio books, by David Moulton are brilliant..... Anyone like to add some other books they get a ot out of? |

I have been really enjoying "Mixing With Your Mind". Expensive, but in my opinion, worth it.

I like Bobby Owsinski's book as well. Others that I find indispensable are Bob Katz's "Mastering Audio", and the Yamaha "Sound Reinforcement Handbook".

I had a friend who owns mixing with your mind, said very positive comments about it. It sounds intense? Hard to follow or straight forward?

Mixing With Your Mind, I found to be an enjoyable & easy read....no over the top technical definations....just easy to understand explanations of how & why things work the way they do.......I find myself re-reading this and "Behind The Glass" & finding new & usefull stuff with every read. The Mixing Engineer's Handbook is another good choice. Reading all of these books made me notice that all great producers & engineers are saying pretty much the same things.....but they have different ways of saying it.....each book helps me understand the others. I do think that MWYM is, for me, the best of the 3 I mentioned. I can, more easily, understand what he is getting at.

I really like Owsinski's "Mastering" and "Mixing" editions, but the book on the tracking process was lacking by comparison. Anybody else notice it focused more on what kind of gear the engineers were using rather than technique? I just thought it was a weak follow up to the other two. His Mixing book was great for ideas and reminders! War |
