Thread Starter | Avoid latency issues with Akai MPD32? I'm looking to buy an MPD32 soon but want to make sure my spec will be up to scratch. Before I buy this I'm getting a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB, will this help with keeping latency down? I plan to get a laptop later in the year, what should I bear in mind? If I want to use drum pads etc, it will have to near enough zero latency no? If I want to practise on my PC until then, how will latency be then? (pc was brand new about 3 years ago) |

| You should be fine. Make sure you keep the buffer low while making music. |

| I don't understand why your choice of audio interface should have anything to do with the amount of latency in your drum pads. The MPD32 is a USB-MIDI device, which ordinarily you connect directly to your computer. You hit a pad, it sends a MIDI signal over USB. None of that has anything to do with your audio interface. |

| contrary to the last post, it DOES matter where your soundcard's buffer setting is. You will get faster response from your pads, just try it. the midi is somehow dependent on the clock from your soundcard as it is kind of running the show... soooooo... I am wondering if midi into the soundcard itself would yield even lower latency...? I never use old school midi so... |
