Focusrite 18i6 and protools 10 (idiot alert..!)

Hi there

I must be doing something wrong here -

I have installed my new Pro Tools 10 software on my MBP - it's seeing my Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 in terms of monitor returns and the mic pre ins.

I can't seem to find the optical inputs that I'm running into it from my octo pre... anyone got any ideas what I'm doing wrong here...?!

Hey mate,

I have PT10 and Focusrite Saffire Pro 24DSP so hopefully I can help out.

as far as setting up the inputs and outputs in PT10, once you're in Pro Tools click the setup menu, then playback engine, and in the drop down list make sure you focusrite is selected.

Then click the setup menu again and hit I/O, and the input, output, bus and inserts tabs hit default doen near the bottom left of the window. For me that usually sets up everything perfectly.

Also, have you got your head around Mix Control? It took me a little while to work it out, but here's a link to a video that I found really useful at explaining it all!

Best of luck.

Blimey - I can't believe I was being that dense - thanks very much mate!!

Think that's done the trick!!

I'll have a look at the mix control vid - I've not really got my head around how it integrates with using PT - have you found I handy?

Glad I could help.

I've mix control very handy, once you get your head around it, it's great.

The mix control software is pretty much entirely for monitoring purposes, its has nothing to do with the signal going into Pro Tools. Once you watch that video it'll make perfect sense.
