Restoring an LX7

Got a very inexpensive Spirit LX7 32ch 7groups mixer. It has some issues.
Have been taken it apart, cleaning, polishing, dishwashed the knobs (works well but use a stocking orso to prevent the real small ones from flushing away :face palm Anyway, one of the main faders lost knob and the iron piece that goes into it. Need to replace that one. Do i need to order that or can i just get a replacement from the (any) electronics shop? And, could this know somehow be the cause of a malfunction? (One channel is going deep into the red, just by switching on...)

"the iron piece that goes into it"? Do you mean the wiper of the fader or an insert into the knob?

Hello tINY,
The fader still works, the wiper of the fader is still in so i can test device before repair.
The malfunction (one channel went straight into the red) is gone for now. It looks clean and shiny and i'm still struggling with the back panel to put it back in. Thanks for your reply!
(This whole post was a bit premature, cleaning took a bit long so i hoped someone would say i could just get a standard fader replacer -in the mean time).

PS using a polish wax on the steel board of the mixer worked wonders!

It is not difficult to take it apart.
All screws at the top she be unscrewed (and of the cover of cause.)
However, putting it together is something else.
What worked for me:
First re-attach the part with the PSU to the cover, then the boards (it will not work VV) I found out that the circuit boards cannot be attached to the cover BEFORE the PSU is attached. (to that very same cover..)
