reverb/delay pedal?

So I'm pretty much a software junkie, I usually run my guitar through guitar rig/ and some great delays and reverb plugins. My live setup is getting more complicated though so I can't use the guitar through the computer for live stuff anymore, so I need to get a good (and hopefully cheap) reverb/delay pedal.

I need a nice long ambient reverb and just some simple delay. I tried the zoom g2.1 today, and it had ok delay but the reverb just wasn't cutting it. I also tried the boss digital reverb, and it was just way too short and sounded terrible. So what are some recommendations on good multieffects pedal, or maybe combination of pedals? I'm looking to spend probably $200-250.

reverb/delay pedal?

Hi,

For delays, Have you checked out the LINE-6 ECHO PARK pedal. I haven,t heard one but they've recieved superb reviews.

Why? Because the pedal models vintage tape delay and classic 1970s bucket brigade microchip based delay pedals. With DELAY units, As with any type of music gear/instrument you can get something which gives you plain delay-FUNCTIONAL/DOES THE JOB or something with the X-factor and character like the revered LEXICON-PCM-42 or (PCM-41-CHEAPER VERSION). These type of units do something special to the input signal ,and quite often the results are creativly inspiring.

Hope this helps a bit...........ROB.

I'm not sure you're going to have much luck getting long ambient reverbs out of a pedal. That's kind of always been reserved for rack units. As for delay I second the Line 6 boxes, they cover a lot of ground.

Thanks guys,

Yeah I'm trying not to go with the racks, just because of space when travelling, it's easier just to pop a couple of pedals in a bag. I think the verbzilla is my ticket, it's right in my price range and seems to have excatly what I need. the EH holy grail verb is nice and cheap, but it's skimpy and I need a bit more tweakability. I'll see if they have one at guitar center (shudder) and try one out...if I can hear beyond the kid playing smells like teen spirit on a detuned squire.

Regarding the delay I think I'll just go with the boss dd3, or digitech digital delay. They're both simple, but it's cheaper than the echo park.

I'm a delay junkie.

The best analog pedal delay that can be had is the Diamond Memory Lane.

Some people like the Echo Czar.

The Memory Lan is built like a tank, sounds like a dream, and is 100% analog (except for the tap tempo circuitry).

After than, I'd get an Echo Park. But make sure it's newer, and you give it it's own power supply, or run if of a Pedal Power 2, etc. It caqn get noisy.

The DL-4 is not bad...kind of makes things sound flat...steals depth I found (had one for years).

The DD-5 or DD-6 is not a bad bet, and at least you can get tap tempo with them. Not so with the DD-3.

Don't underestimate the power of of tap tempo! You will find the more you use it, the more indepsensible it is.

In terms of reverb, the Verbzilla really takes the prize. Have never heard the Holiest Grail, but if it sounds as impressive as it looks...

for analog delay, toneczar echoczar is fantastic.

maxon is doing some pretty nice analog delays also.

for digital, I'll go for boss dd-20. it sounds very good as for digital. dl-4 is very interesting because of delay madness which can be done with looper, but you're looking for simple delay.

I'll definitelly go for toneczar.

I started a thread a couple weeks back about this:
http://gearslutz.com/board/showthread.php?t=66677

I finally bought an Electro Harmonix Holy Grail (reverb).
And it's really really good. I recommend it.

I spent the morning doing sound tests with my guitar with it, here's an mp3 for you. There's not a lot of reverb in the tracks, but it's definitively just where I personnally want it to be..

hmmm, I checked the samples on the line 6 site, and echo park and verbzilla look like a pretty deadly combination for the price. Found them both on ebay for $130 each. The echoczar looks fantastic, but that's about $500 over what I can afford. Echo Park's got a lot of really great features as well, so it'll be perfect for ambient stuff.

How is the noise on these two pedals? The clips on the line 6 site sounded pretty clean, but I was wondering what you guys have experienced with them.

I like the new Danelectro echo/delay unit. They call themselves something else now (a Japaneze word that begins with an "A"). But anyways, it has a low pass filter on it which can really make it sound like an old analog echo if you want. I love it. It has tap tempo also which I like as well.

They are old school sounding boxes... I wouldn't worry about the noise... I never noticed anything bad... The noise specs are probably better then any vintage box.

If digital is okay, which I assume it is since you were running through a computer.....

Boss DD-20.

The different types of delay are great to have. You can go from the straight clean digital delay to the analog and tape modes. I love the tape mode, it rolls off the high end more and more with each repeat, it is so much smoother sounding than the dd-5/6. It has both pedals built in and can work off of presets, I really like it. Oh, and you can play around with recording and looping if you want as well.
