Thread Starter | Waves Vocal Chain, Help plz!!! I have heard what the UAD plugins collection can do; however, I don't feel like buying more plugins. I've spent tons of money on what is supposed (at the time I bought it) to be the best, which is the waves platinum bundle. But, I'm having a bit of trouble getting a good mix on my vocals. can a few of you guys or gals help me with building a good vocal chain, with settings or presets, that can create a cleaner more professional vocals. I know the subject is kind old, but all I have is the waves bundle as of now. Help plz!!! ![]() |

| who on earth told you that waves are the best. for the most part they are bread and butter plug, nothing to get to excited about. start with the person in fount of the mic then the mic etc. if its not a good recording then there isn’t usually a lot you can do with it. if its a great recording you shouldn’t have to do much to it at all. |

| Lives for gear | I was going to hit it with the "Unanswerable Question of the Day" award, but I ran out of those cute certificates.

| Lives for gear | Well you can get decent results with your plugs! Chain: 1. Rvox: use it as gate - very useful for that. Compress the vocal 1-2 db to give it an edge. 2. Rdeesser: the Rvox can make your sound a bit harsch in the higher freq area. Tame it bit. 3. Rchannel: Eq - hipass and compensate if the desser makes it a bit dull. Then compress as you wish. Sometimes I put the eq after the compressor. Voilà! Have a nice day. |

| Ren Vox and C4 would be my picks from Platinum for vocals. I still find Ren Vox useful even though I have access to other plugins including the UAD-1 ones. I generally don't EQ vocals. But for reverb, UAD-1 Plate 140. Nothing in Platinum comes close. Besides a great singer in a good room, a high quality mic and pre would make more of a difference.
