I cannot say enough about PSP's Vintage Warmer. So long as it is not overused, it is a great tool to have. You can get it online for around $135. It has been worth every penny to me.

Not sure if you are looking at softsynths as well, but I really like G-Media's impOSCar, which runs under $100.

Check out kvraudio.com
You can find plenty of advice there, including all the great freebies.
For purchase--I've liked PSP, Elemental Audio and Voxengo.

The UAD collection - Can't go wrong there.

Voxengo's Soniformer - Life saver.

Digital FishPhone's SpitFish - Another life saver (and free!).
