I love amplitube and use it for just about everything. I'm going to upgrade, as well but I want to check out Waves GTR. Guitar rig feels unstable to me but that's on my system (PC w/ PTLE).

give guitar rig and even the sans amp PSA-1 a try before you drop the money on amplitube, there is a reason guitar rig is the standard and its not because its light on the cpu. or better yet put that money towards a real amp.

i like amplitube for some things but the LE version is all i need. ive played with the full version and i didnt find all the extra stuff that usefull.

i like guitar rig MUCH better than both the aforementioned. The new "hi res" mode sounds UBER truthful.

I've used both. AT2 is a worthwhile upgrade. I tested GR2 extensively and ended up buying Amplitube 2. Amplitube 1 was okay, but the new version has many, many improvements.

I'd actually go so far as to say AT2 smokes GR2.

How were you able to test AT2 before buying it?

Its worded funny. I guess I meant to say I ended up buying AT2, but tested GR2 (demo). Make sense?

for a guitar plug-in anyway i would say it is
when was the last time you heard a top record being done with AT? guitar rig has been used on alot of recordings, be it one track or an entire album. im certainly not saying guitar rig is a standard in every studio, just as far as amp sim plugs go. this is still only in plug-ins and no plug-in could ever replace a real guitar amp.

I'm a total amp sim slut. I had sold my POD XT Live because of no clipping indicator and because I didn't need a large black pedal and didn't like to have to use USB to keep it in the digital realm.
I bought Guitar Rig 2 and have liked it, but missed some of the tones.
Yesteday, I was calling GC to see what they had used. They had a used POD XT Pro--not a scratch--looking unused. I talked them down to $350. Nice that it has all the add-on packs. I couldn't pass on that price. I wouldn't say GR2 is the standard. I think all of them have their strengths and weaknesses.

I bought Amplitube 2 because they advertised it would use iLok authorization.
Well, now it ended up being Syncrolock, but that´s okay with me.

Anyway, I did not like Amplitube 1 much at all, not very versatile. I do like Amplitube 2 a lot, however, this one is very versatile. Guitar Rig might be a bit more versatile still, but I like the more streamlined user interface of AT2. And to me a portable USB authorization was paramount. I would have preferred the iLok, though.
