| Gear interested | Opinions please... Hi everybody, I am using at the moment RME HDSP9632 soundcard, which I’m very much pleased from it! This card has only one output, which goes to my Adam A7 monitors. I decided to update my setup with a brand new Neve 33609JD. But from all the excitement I forgot that I have only one out in this card… (that I’m already using).---- I need your respected opinions regarding what do you think is the right thing for me to do… I already thought about the easy (and I think best) way, to just go and buy the new RME FireFace UFX (which is very versatile piece of gear). But I started to think maybe there is a less expansive solution that can help me JUST connect my new compressor? (because as I said the 9632 is great for me at the moment). Another thought was maybe to put an expansion of some kind for the 9632, is it possible ![]() Thanks for all the repliers! Flakey. |

The 9632 has only one analog in/out, the others are digital which won't help you. The RME expansion cards each cost $300, and you need one each for 4 inputs and 4 outputs (too bad they don't make a single card with 2 ins and 2 outs). Still, at $600 total it may be the best deal for you. For just a little more ($700), I would consider buying the MR816 and use it as a standalone ADA converter. I never used it, but the reputation here on GS is that the conversion is excellent. The extra $100 would buy you additional ins/outs and very good preamps as well. I don't know of any better bang the buck for converters. Steinberg MR816 X Firewire Interface at zZounds If you want to go cheaper, the Behringer ada8000 gets surprisingly good reviews here. Again, no personal experience here, just going from what I read.

Thank you neirbod! I am so happy to know that THERE IS a possibility to expand my 9632 card with more I/O! So this option is definitely to be considered! It is a saving of 1500USD (if to buy a new UFX) ---- I want to ask you guys (and girls?! ): From sound quality perspective, will I notice a clear change if I will decide to go on the expansion solution, instead of buying the UFX ? (maybe the converters are not to far in the sound quality from each other?!) Thanks for all the help until now! Thanks for the repliers! Flakey. | |
