Thread Starter | SPL Stereo Vitalizer Jack - Balanced, Unbalanced connections
I've just bought an SPL Stereo Vitalizer Jack to play around with. As far as I'm aware the difference between this model and the high-end models is that this has less options and unbalanced jack inputs and outputs. What are the implications of the unbalanced jack connections? My desire is to mess around with this and hopefully use it for a bit of stereo widening but basically just see what it can do. My interface is a Tascam US-1641, how could I hook it up? |

Can anyone help me out? Would really appreciate someone explaining all this stuff to me. I don't want to do doing everything ITB for the rest of my life just because I have no idea how to hook stuff up.

Try hooking it up like this. Hook the 3 and 4 outputs of the Tascam to the Virt ins left and right. Hook the virt out left and right to 11 and 12 inputs on the Tascam. Set virt for 100% effect. Any channel on the Tascam you want the virt on assign the channel to left and right main outputs+ 3 and 4 to drive the virt. Bring up the faders 11 and 12. Hope this helps GT.

Finally got around to hooking this up as above and it didn't seem to work right. No matter what the settings were it sounded like it was making everything mono, any thoughts? I'm probably just going to sell it though I quite liked the low-end tightening thing.

If you are going from unbalanced (The Vitalizer) to balanced (Tascam), then on the balanced end, connect the wire from the tip of the unbalanced plug to pin 2 and the ground (or shield) to pin 1 of an XLR connector. Leave pin 3 floating (unconnected).
