What is your sampling protocol?

My sampling experience is pretty much limited to my SK-5 (which does its thing, but, well, you know...) and a couple soft samplers like Izotope's Phatmatic Pro (which I found quite underwhelming). I am hoping to use it in lieu of, or possibly in conjunction with, live drums on the record I am currently slaving away at. I am curious what y'all have to say about sampling methods, workflow, "do's and dont's", tricks, etc.. -Brandon
