Whats in your mic locker?

So I've been ignoring my mic collection for awhile, while I've been buying up a bunch of outboard... now its back to my mic collection. I've got all my basics covered so its time to buy some fun stuff. So far I have.....

2 421's
4 57's
2 octava 012's
2 AT 25's
2 of those EV mics with swiveling ball thing... i always forget the model #
A rode NTK
And a bunch more random stuff.

I like keeping pairs of stuff around if you cant tell. So im thinking 2 new SD condensors... suggestions? 2 blue baby bottles, and a soundelux 195. I'd really love some ribbons too, but if I pick all these up I wont have any more of a mic budget for awhile.

At some point I want to get a really nice vocal mic like the blue bottle, but I think I'll be able to get by without one if I pick these things up...

So what do you guys have? I have to admit I'm way more of a outboard slut then mic slut. Even though mic choice makes more or a difference in sound they just never seem as *fun* to buy.

E cue, what are you using your ECM8000's on? They're dirt cheap and if usable in any way I'll pick up a pair.

AKG 451 E + 20 db pad barrell

I do large tracking sessions - at large tracking studios and usualy bring along my mic box and DI boxes.

For some reason my assitant engineers provide bass drum mic's! Last guy (now freelance) had a AT25 pro the new guy brings a D112 to the party!

I want either 2 x Radio shack PZM's or one 'triangular' Crown stereo PZM also SM7, RE20, AT25.

After a hit I would go for U69, C12, U47, Elam 251, Sony 8000g, Calrec Soundfield, Earthworks QCT omnis... etc etc....

My mic closet is similar to yours, just enough for tracking a rock band without a lot of substitutions available. I've got the same 421s, 57s, and EVs, if you're talking about the N/Dym 408s. I've got SM81s for SD cardioids, as well as a pair of those ECM8k omnis. They're nice on overheads if your room sounds good, I actually use them there more than the 81s. For LDs, I've got a C414B/ULS for a multi-pattern and a TLM103 for a cardioid. I'd like to make it a pair of TLMs for some more flexibility.
I'd go for more condensers, probably a nice multi-pattern LD to use as a second option to your NTK. A Soundelux, Lawson, Blue, Brauner, Sony 800G, or Shure KSM 44 might be nice. Neumann is always a safe bet. For another pair of SDs, the ECM8ks are worth trying, if you think you can swing the price :-). The labels were peeled off mine the day they arrived, now I just refer to them as a pair of generic measurement omnis, ahem...

Seems like not too many people have mics from Blue. Why is that?

My Preamp list (for those who care)
Neve/Vintech 1272 (2 channels)
Daking 52270 preamp & EQ (2)
Telefunken V672 (2)
AMR VMP-2 Tube preamp with EQ (2 channels)
Joe Meek VC6 preamp/compressor
Presonus MP20 (2 channels)
Trident preamp & EQ (24 channels)

I also have a pair of Old School Audio mic pres here that I like and will probably buy before long.

BLUE Baby Bottle - it hasn't sounded bad on anything I've tried yet
(2) AT4033
(2) AT4040 - on order; will probably replace the 4033's; anybody want a pair?
ATM-25 - my favorite kick mic
AT825 - stereo mic for sampling, sometimes used as room mic
(2) Oktava MK012 - matched pair
(2) MK012 - not matched
(3) SM57
(3) Audix D2
D1
D3
D4

I keep renting a great U47FET for a client and am thinking of picking up a Lawson L47SH to have something in the ballpark on hand.

Cheers,

Don

great so see how our needs differ from collection to collection, some of yall with the killer lists - would be cool to see how your cabinet has grown over the past year, 2 years, 5 and 10 years Those collections look like they have definatly grown over a decade or so. Timeline your mic growth out, unless you took out a decent loan and went on a spree...

I feel I can do alot with what I have, very little I "need" - very much I WANT.

currently own:

Schoeps cmc6/mk4v x 2 (matched)
Neumann U87ai
AKG 414 BULS
AKG D12e (70s)
Shure sm-7
Shure sm-57 x 4
Sennheiser e604 x 3
Sennheirse 421
Electro-Voice N/D 408

the to do list:

Royer 121 x 2
Earthworks tc-30k x 2
Shure beta-91 (kick pzm)
BLUE babby bottle
AKG 451
Sennheiser 441

For me I have a good utility set rounded out, and often track with access to other mic cabinets (or rentals) - so I am really looking to fill small holes in my collection, and add a few other lifetime-achievers

Got to play around with the newly arrived Beyer Soundstar MKII's.
They sound like the microphone an SM58 wants to be when it grows up.
Smoooth, detailed, and resistant to popping.
First heard of them from posts by Harvey Gerst about how good these are
on R.A.P. He told me recently they sound somewhat like a Shure SM7.
