Super Destroy FX are my all-time favorites. Guaranteed to do... unnatural.. things to audio.

Hey, you didn't say what *kind* you wanted :p

Try and see? It's not the end of the world if your computer crashes. Personally I haven't had any trouble with free plugins. Some real gems out there!

I have most of these RTAS plugs; they're all OK for me on Mac OS X. I don't have all the JK stuff, but what I do is great.

These are simply amazing plugins. Some of the best "character compressors" I've used on any platform. Wonderful "analogness"... highly recommended. Get them all!

Also, you can get the pluggo set for relatively cheap. Although, I might add, they effect your sound in ways that might, initially, seem upsetting, but, later, might seem useful.

Izotope Vinyl plug-in

The ultimate lo-fi weapon, iZotope Vinyl uses 64-bit processing and advanced filtering, modeling and resampling to create authentic "vinyl" simulation, as if the audio was a record being played on a record player.

Well, it simulates all of the anomalies of vinyl/turntables/stylii, but doesn't give you the good stuff, i. e. the "vibe" or the "flavor" of vinyl's sound.

The best free plugin in existence is also the best delay plugin out right now, imho. RetroDelay by e-phonic. It's amazing.

Fun? Try SIR and grab impulses from Noisevault. VSTi synths? Download Crystal!

Kjaerhus Audio and Voxengo make some good free plugs too...not as good as their paid ones though imho.

Are these e-Phonic plugins proper coded plugins or SynthEdit / Synth Maker ones?

These threads are always great, even though there are probably several. So what? The more the merrier.

Anyone looking for good free plugs should definitely download the Kjaerhus Classic plugs.

The Modern plugs by Antress also have some nice toys to play with...there are a lot of them. Neve imitations, EQs, compressors, exciters, you name it.

Voxengo SPAN and Blue Cat Frequency analyzer are great spectrum analyzers to have.

Mr. Ray 73 is an excellent Rhodes clone, and Ticky Clav is a go-to sound too.

Check out Stillwell products for free and then buy them...you won't be sorry. Outstanding plug-ins, free to use and sold on the honor system. Reaper is also a stellar DAW sold on the "free to try, cheap to buy" model.

Get Breverb for $4.99! Might as well be free...if you can't spend $4.99 you shouldn't have a computer anyway.

Most anything you need can be found at KVR or Audiomastermind. Just be prepared for spending hours trying them out...can you say timesuck?

Smart Electronix Ambience. At the beginning I thought another bad Reverb. Now one of my favourite and preferable. If tweaked well its sounds as hell!

And a really great stuff for silly money - Stillwell Bundle - simply a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

Rocket Comp - one of best Ive ever worked with.
Vibe Eq + 1973 Eq - great for lower spectrum /kicks, basses, vocals etc./

Those guys from Stillwell deserve much more hype ..
Really - there was not so much soft in last 2-3 years which made me so happy.

Structure Free for PT users

also, Massey Plugins has some great demos - fully functional, but don't remember their settings between session loads. I love the TD5 analog tape delay plugin.

Also, Roger Nichols Digital Labs has a free Inspector download - great frequency spectrum display for the master buss, etc.

+1 for pluggo free
