Thread Starter | Live Vocal Reverb using Holy Grail pedal and Shure P4M?
Hey everybody, I've been trying to figure out a solution to running reverb on 4 on-stage mics in a way that us musicians on stage have control over turning it on and off (as an effect for certain parts of songs). I think I might have found a solution and wanted to see if anybody knew if this would work well or not. I'm thinking of running each on-stage mic into a Shure PM4 mixer: (Shure Americas | P4M Four Channel Personal Monitor Mixer) Then sending each mic through the XLR split outs directly to the house mixer, so that the sound guy will still have control over the vocal levels. Then I'm thinking of running the 1/4" out of the mixer into a bypass guitar fx pedal (to shut off the incoming signal when I don't want the reverb) and then into Holy Grail pedal, and then the output of the reverb into a radial JDI DI box. The xlr out of the DI then goes into the house mixer. That way the sound guy would have a "Reverb" channel that would come on during the certain sections of songs, but he'd still have control over the main unaffected vocal volumes. And we on stage could control the levels of the vocals going into the fx reverb, and when the reverb went on or off. My question is, do you think this would work well? Anybody have experience with the Shure P4M? Seems like a compact solution, rather than getting a 4 channel mic splitter, then a 4 channel mixer, then an XLR to 1/4" level matching adapter. Thanks! |
