Vintage Effects Advice Please

HI all, I'm looking to buy a few bits of rack/outboard gear and in particular I would like a flanger possibly a phaser and anything else interesting that anyone can suggest.

My only criteria is that it must not be new and not have a "90's clean" feel. I'm after vintage equipment. I already have a Roland tape echo which is perfect as the tape is on it's last legs, But I'd love a flanger to put the synths and drums through. I was looking at an MXR Flanger/doubler which is perfect, but I've heard/read some horror stories about a certain chip that is impossible to source.

So can anyone make any suggestions as to what I might like or have missed. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance

Some things aren't vintage, they are just old. That wasn't very good when it was new, and didn't sound '80s' it just sounded bad. Look at a Yamaha Rev7. cool device. reverse reverbs, programable eleft and right delay and pre delay times, really neat.

Show business: we're all here because we're not all there.

Resistance is not futile. It is voltage divided by current.

Digitech RDS delay (1900, 3.6, etc). It of course does chorus, flange, as well...

I hesitated to write this as I'm looking to buy another on eBay currently

Not cheap or small but a Leslie cabinet with the preamp is a load of vintage fun.

This is the best advice I think anyone can give you. I see people selling "vintage" 1970s/80s guitars now and see old junk going for a lot of money because it's old.

Make sure you know what you're buying. I would look back in old mags and books and see what the 'go to' gear of the era you're trying to capture was and look for that.
