Budget EQ for heavy guitars

Im trying to go away from mixing in Protools and more on my Allen and Heath. The only out board EQ I have is whats on my A&H GL2200. Im looking for something under $700 that will help me shape the heavy guitar tones. Eventually I will be getting some API stuff but its out of my price range right now.

I'd like to hear from the guys who have experiance with highend eq"s and not just lowend stuff.

JOE MEEK VC1Q

if you can find one used... try a joe meek vc1q (not the cs or the newer models... just the vc1q ro even an original vc1) i LOVE it on electric gtrs. Great compressor, Great eq, and a very usable enhancer. it really is a great choice. you can find them from $350.00 to $550.00

I like the Chameleon stuff on guitars, smooth shelving without pointy sounds but also the mid adjustment is fat.
