Thread Starter | M-Audio Firewire Solo Vs. M-Audio Firewire 410. Which One Should I Get Just To Record
Which one provides better quality for vocals the M-Audio 410 or the M-Audio Firewire Solo. I want to buy an interface mainly for vocals and want to choose the best of the 2.

neither, get the profire 610!!!!! Better yet get the apogee duet on a mac if on get a rme babyface on pc I take it price is factor? The m-audio firewire solo, 410 and 1814 were great units in there time but technology and sound quality has improved over the years. I have used them all and they all sound the same, like putting a blanket over the mic.(almost identical parts just different feature sets) These products use 10 year old technology. Seriously get the profire 610 its, $300 used. Also check out the Focusrite saffire pro 14 its $250 new! I am sure you could find it used for less. Its a recent product that has much better preamps than the old m-audio products. later, Scott |

Yes it is a price issue. Also is the Focusrite saffire pro 14 alot better than those interfaces I mentioned in terms of sound quality and improving the vocals? I plan on recording with a Studio Projects B1 | |

I have used focusrite in the past and the pre's are good for the money. Way better than the old m-audio devices. Check out these review's at sweetwater Focusrite Saffire PRO 14 | Sweetwater.com |

You can pick any interface under $500 and the most significant differences are the choice of input and output options. There are a few that stand out like apogee duet due to it's 70db pre amps and higher quality converters than most in this price point. The singer, the mic, the room it's in, will have more effect on quality than the slight differences in audio specs of the interfaces. Compatibility with your computer, and does it have enough of the type of inputs and outputs you need is more important at this price point. Via Gearslutz iPhone app
