Hi all, I want to get a soundcard for my laptop mostly to use for editing tracks on the go. It needs to be buss powered. Under $100 would be nice. Stable drivers essential. I will not be doing any recording with it, I have a MOTU 828mk2 for that. Ken |

| if you have
if you have a pcmcia slot you should check out the ECHO INDIGO. or e-mu makes this dohickey that you can just use the pcmcia card, or the breakout box or both. i think maudio also has some small little units in the 100 dollar range. the fast track or something like that. hope that helps, AudioAlchemy |

Hi , picked up a maudio firwire solo a month ago(got it at amazon on sale for $160) and it sounds pretty good, has balanced outs which is nice to have sometimes, head out, spdif in/out, i mic pre, 1 instrument in, and 2 unbalanced line ins.Bus powered if you use 6 pin fw, which means using an add on pcmia card usually.Pretty small with a metal casing, fairly tuff.It can run p-tools mpowered if you need that, which is one of the reasons I picked it up-as a dongle alternative to the m-box.Also, I use it as a live effects processor for my sax as it'll run 64 sample latency with the asio drivers reliably in cubase or probably in other hosts as well.Using the 2 outs, I can run one line to the house and another to a amp or powered speaker close by on the stage.I tried a couple of usb interfaces but so far this seems better plus the p-tool thingy. Seen em go on ebay under $130 Mike, |
