Angry MXL GENESIS or STERLING AUDIO ST69

Hello other musicians, engineers! Im in a little tough situation rite now. Ive been recording with the AT2020 usb, and have even made some pretty good quality projects with it, but I think its time to upgrade. The two mics I have my eyes set on are the MXL Genesis and the Sterling ST69. Any experience with the two, anybody? A SOUND CLIP would be even better.Which one would you recommend; or even another mic within the same price range; they are both $600. it will be used for mainly vocal and rarely anything else. Feedback??

ALSO, for anyone interested in the AT2020, I would highly reccomend it for it only being about $100 and a USB mic. Its all in the mix tho. Here are some audio clips I did with it.

YouTube - Vendetta Vietnom - Drop

And after actually learning the mic and experimenting with it = Download letitbreathe2 mp3 (my verse begins at about 3:00)

Have you tried doing a search for MXL Genensis or Sterling ST69? Doing so will generate all sorts of info, including clips. I tried it with a search of the Genesis.

Mics and voices are like wine and food. The best wine for the meal may well be the 2020usb....

You really need to try out the mics with the voice before you know which to use.

A different Mic question....

Is the "Disk Resonator" in the Groove Tubes GT60 something I should worry about? .....ie. (the EQ hype). Some say the Groove Tubes MD1b is a better tube mic, from a purist standpoint, as it does not have the disk resonator in it. Any thoughts would help me out ...Thanks

MXL GENESIS or STERLING AUDIO ST69

Is the ST69 discontinued? I know GC closed them out a while back for about $200. I just picked up an open box one for $198.

Its an interesting mic, a bit mid-rangy in an interesting way, but from what ive heard about the Genesis i think that may be a better mic. I dont like the ST69 stock as much as I like my MXL 3000 stock. Both of which im planning on modding. Capsule for the 3000 on the way. Planning on a CK12 clone capsule for the 69. Ive got 5 total mics to mod will be posting results ( well since ill do the testing for myself anyways ) when done and done

I think that was the ST79 that was discontinued. I also picked one up when GC was blowing them out. The ST69 is a tube mic and is still available for $600.

I have always wondered about the MXL Revelation, though I think that one is starting to approach bigger money.

thanks for all the replies, guys. I went ahead and ordered the Genesis. I will post clips as soon as it gets here; but Im also looking for a new interface. something with nice quality or as good as possible for the $200 range. I dont need many ports. really just one for mic, xlr and a midi for my casio. suggestions?

And Ive heard that the revelation is great also. Sounds kinda like the genesis but with more pattern options
