digital mixer help

i'm considering getting a digital mixer. my pockets are low has anyone any experience with the tascam dm-24. i really want a digital mixer because then it kills three birds with one stone, daw controller, sound card and mixer. does anyone know about this or any other digital mixer that i can get for under $1500.
i was researching the tascam dm-3200 and the mackie d8b but they are a little pricey and still will need additional cards and stuff. pls help me out

behringer ddx 3216. add an adat i/o card (16 digital i/o's on lightpipe) or tdif i/o, or the aes/ebu i/o card, plus the 16 analog ins, you'll have a really nice board for under $1000 new. i bought mine a few years ago when they were a little more expensive and i can't complain. the thing sounds great, it's built like a tank, and has good sonics and no shortage of in-built dsp.

if you need a fashion statement/brand name console, ignore the foregoing. on the other hand, if you want to get work done quick and have a few hundred bux left to buy other gear, you'd do much worse with, say the tascam 24 digital board (the eol'd black one) or the yamaha stuff (o1v, 02r, not the new stuff), which will cost more and sound worse.

the 3216 has more inputs than the 01v96, btw. that's why i bought it.

not sure about how reliable behringer's other gear is, but this board is the cat's pajamas.

my tuppence.
