Which firewire interface?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this forum and I'll probbably have more questions then answers but I'm sure you'll be able to answer most of them.

The thing is I'm in the process of building my little home studio. I am selling my old soundcard (Audiotrak Maya 44 MKII) and planning of getting a firewire interface. I thinking between Presonus Firebox and M-audio 410. What are your oppionions and expiriences with them? Maybe you have some other suggestions?

I'm also between those two.

I'm going with the Box. I've heard horror stories from both sides, but M-audio seems to have serious problems with the drivers.

I'd get my box latest on March 7, if you can wait, i'd give you a review.

Complains i've seen

BOX
-Hiss
-Soft Preamps
-Latency
-Overall Build

410
-Driver problems (major)

I'm still going with the box.

Yes, there are pros and cons for everything out there. I, too am leaning more towards the Firebox, mostly because people recommend it more than M-audio. There is also a third soulution: Focusrite Saffire, but I know nothing of this product nor of it's pros and cons

Never heard of that one before. Stick to the two options you've listed, and i'm leaning towards the box just like you.

If you get it earlier than me, please do let me know if we've made the right choice.

I found that the Firebox was actually built very well (better than M-Audio firewire) but I had to return mine anyway due to noise problems. If you need it cheap, the Firebox is still a great deal, and the Presonus techs said that mine actually sounded like a defective unit, but if you're willing to spend ANY more money, go up a step to the Firepod. That's what I did, and I've been very happy with it.
By the way, I also experienced M-Audio's driver problems. Couldn't get it ro run for more than a few minutes at a time...
